Robert Dunlop

Hugely interesting chat with Robert Dunlop tonight for the podcast.

Robert has done an awful lot to bring the Great War to life on the tabletop. His mega games at the Joy of Six are hugely inspirational. I heartily recommend that you head over without delay to his  Great War Spearhead website to check out the fantastic pictures of his games over the years.

As a taster check out this image of his recreation of the battle of the Somme from 2016.

Robert gives an insight in his inspiration, how he buids the games and how he paints and collects the thousands of figures he uses in his games.

The podcast episode should be up early next week.

  1. Another good episode. Not sure if it was just me, but the intro and outro segments seemed quieter than normal, had trouble hearing you even with the volume turned up to full.

Other than that, this was an excellent episode, great to hear abut Robert's background in creating his huge games.

Looking forward to the next one too.

  2. Thanks for listening Nick. It's not just you😀 I spent am age trying to sort levels but both intro and out to still came out quiet. Next episode is in editing now and I'll endeavour to do better. Still learning the ropes!

  3. Excellent podcast - both overall and specifically the WW1, which I am about to embark on in 6mm after many years of hose and msuket 6mm from the SYW to the FPW. Ideas for future blogs could be rules and 6 mm versatiliy and basing - I find it odd that people playing 6mm always base on stand much larger than the minis - it ruins the aesthetics!
